Urbion Exploration   6 Days    Ref: SDUE

Pico Urbion The Urbion Exploration holiday is based in the quaint rural village of Vinuesa. This small interesting village nestled in convergence of the Rivers Revinuesa & Duero offers the visitor an amalgamation of urban and rural landscapes, history and tradition. Vinuesa is located in the 'Pinares' (Pine region), the largest forest mass on the Iberian Peninsula, so it's not surprising the forest and surrounding Sierra Urbion is a draw card for outdoor enthusiasts throughout the year. There are many walking and hiking routes where you can enjoy spectacular scenery, wild lavender & thyme, native trees, birds and other flora and fauna. Autumn brings mushroom collecting and the sounds of the wild deer bellowing.

You'll be provided with a detailed information pack including, walking and topography maps, information about the village and places of interest, list of restaurants and food options including some of our favourite places to pick up picnic supplies.

With over 20 walks of varying difficulty and length there is something for every walker. This Self Guided Holiday has a walking grade of Independent. Some walking trails begin and end in the village, others require transportation.

The accommodation we have chosen for you is the rural inn, Casa La Pinariega. Built in the 19th century it has been fully restored keeping original features, with modern comforts. Your double occupancy room comes with en suite bathroom, and continental breakfast.

A Taste of Medieval Soria      7 Day Holiday       Ref: SDMS

Arab Gate Medinacel Based in the historic walled town of El Burgo de Osma, we have chosen the grand Posada del Canónigo as your accommodation for the next 6 nights. The Posada was built in the year 1556 by the Bishop of Valdes; the buildings restoration work has maintained many of its 16th century features, with modern amenities. Your double occupancy room comes with an en suite bathroom and continental breakfast. From the Posada you can explore the historic quarter of El Burgo, which boasts many restaurants that showcase local cuisine.

El Burgo de Osma was a central axis and major stopover for pilgrims travelling from Zaragoza to Santiago de Compostela, along one of the many Caminos de Sanitago and boasts one of Spain's most important cathedrals. Its portico Main Street and small lanes are ideal for exploration on foot. Sitting on the hill above El Burgo de Osma, are the remains of the Roman settlement of Uxama, offering great views across the Reconquest frontier lands.

El Burgo is well placed for exploring medieval Soria: the market town of Berlanga de Duero, mozarabe frescos of San Baudelio, the 11th century hermitage in San Estaban de Gormaz, the impressive town of Medinaceli with its roman arch and Europe's longest castle at Gormaz. For those interested in nature the Canyon Rio Lobos offers stunning scenery and a hidden Knights Templar Hermitage. Not forgetting Calatanazor, declared a national monument for its historic and artistic beauty.

A Taste of Medieval Soria Self Guided Holiday has a walking grade of Sightseeing. Apart from short strolls around places of interest, this holiday does not include daily walks, except when visiting the Knights Templar Hermitage in the Canyon Rio Lobos, approximately 2 to 4kms (1.25 to 2.5 miles).
6 Nights at Posada del Canónigo (B)
